We are honoured to be recognised by the highly esteemed Master Builders Victoria association, with Pace of Abbotsford securing its position in the 2020 Excellence in Construction Awards (Excellence in Highrise Apartment Buildings).

This is the second year running that we have walked away with a win, with our milestone 100th project, Pace of Collingwood, being recognised for its excellence in the very same category back in 2019.

The news of the win has further affirmed our ethos on respecting a suburb’s legacy when developing a new site, particularly when a heritage building of cultural significance happens to call that site home.

A collaboration between Pace and the experts at SJB, Pace of Abbotsford is a design-led development that sought to honour the suburb’s distinctive industrial past. Restoring the red-bricked St Crispin House façade to its original beauty was an important consideration throughout the process.

Dating back to 1923, St Crispin House was named after the patron saint of shoemakers – a nod to its first tenants, the Grimson Shoe Machinery Company. The Art Deco building is also a symbol of the wider history of shoemaking, and related industrial operations throughout the suburb of Abbotsford as a whole.

Pace of Abbotsford is made up of three individual series, including the St Crispin Series, Johnston Series and Stafford Series. Rising above the red bricks, the stylised architecture is a clever mix of contemporary and classic. 133 loft-style apartments sit behind the façade, featuring soaring four-metre ceilings and thoughtful interiors created to last.

The building’s common areas were crafted with community spirit front of mind; designed to bring residents together and create a thriving atmosphere from morning to night. The rooftop infinity pool overlooks Melbourne, while a gym, BBQ and dining area and a resident library complete the offering.

Adding to the lifestyles of both our residents and the broader community, ground floor retail includes a Woolworths Metro and a Blackhearts and Sparrows specialty wine store, meaning bread, milk or a delectable drop of red are never too far away.
