Amatrice Rooftop Restaurant opens its doors at Cubitt Place

Serving up authentic pasta, aperitivo, and panoramic views of Melbourne, Cremorne's first-ever rooftop restaurant has opened its doors within Pace's latest commercial building, bringing Soho House-level elegance from ten floors up. As featured in The Age, Broadsheet, and Concrete Playground.

Take your after-work catch-ups up a notch at Amatrice Rooftop Restaurant — the latest addition to Cubitt Place following the September opening of its bustling sister venue on the ground floor (Caffé Amatrice).

Behind the Italian dining destinations are hospitality experts Dave Parker (San Telmo Group, Sebastian) and Kelly & Alex Brawn (Sebastian), who have looked to the Italian mountain village of Amatrice (pronounced Am-uh-tree-chay!)  for inspiration. Redefining the Melbourne rooftop experience, Amatrice Rooftop Restaurant has pulled out all the stops, with an elegant fit out and elevated Italian menu to match.

“We’re excited to be bringing an offering to Cremorne that’s wanted and needed. Melbourne is known for its rooftop bars, but Amatrice Rooftop Restaurant will be doing things a little differently,” says co-owner Alex Brawn. “First and foremost – we’re a restaurant, the dining offer is the hero and in equal merit to the view, it’s central to the venue experience.”

Some of the best-known names in interior design were assembled for this venture, from the sleek lobby by Splinter Society (be sure to look up at the intricate mesh ceiling), to the restaurant design by Brahman Perera (Hopper Joint, Entrecôte, Caffé Amatrice). Vibrant red marble and upholstery is found throughout, with intimate banquette seating and sculptural lighting for an extra touch of moodiness.

But, that’s not all — downstairs on the ground floor you’ll find Caffé Amatrice, an all-day dining destination abuzz with morning espressos and lunchtime conversations.

Serving up its signature foccacia sandwiches and baked eggs all’amatriciana, Caffe Amatrice is here to level-up your lunch game.

Inside, a warm colour palette of terracotta floor tiles, mustard yellow subway tiles and imported green marble tables channel both a modern and retro feel.

“Come in for a takeaway coffee and sandwich, settle-in for a long business lunch, or treat yourself to a coffee granita in the sun; Caffé Amatrice is a very flexible, usable venue that we intend to hold a firm place in the heart of the local community,” says co-owner Dave Parker.

With Amatrice now operating from the top and bottom of the building, there’s no question that Cubitt Place is the destination for social connection.

Flexible office spaces are now leasing, visit Cubitt Place for more details.
