Glenn and Rachel have called Sunshine ‘home,’ for nearly 20 years. Drawn to the suburb for its proximity to nature and Melbourne’s CBD, they quickly fell in love with the vibrant lifestyle the inner-west could offer them.

Having renovated their current home in 2000, and with two young children in tow, they decided it was time to make a change. Here’s how they found their dream home at Pace of Sunshine North.

How did you find out about Pace of Sunshine North?

My eldest daughter has a friend who lives next door to the site, and when we’d drop her off to play we saw the display suite going up.

We were driving home from our parents place on Fathers’ Day last year when one of us said “have you seen that development down by the river?” It turns out both Rachel and I had been researching it, but we’d never spoken about it to each other! We visited the display suite that day.

What has your experience with the sales team been like?

We met with Michael Zhang and he asked what we were looking for. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and immediately knew what to show us. Rachel and I felt like he understood our needs as a family and he pointed us in the right direction to a great place in stage four of the project. At that point, it hadn’t been released but he made sure we were kept up to date with the timings.

Pace have been fantastic, and easy to deal with. We never felt pressured in any way to buy something we didn’t want or need. If anything, Michael’s recommendations were “hold off – because this place is going to suit your family the best.”

Can you tell us about what you’ve purchased?

Ours is one of the four bedders. It’s on a corner block with a great backyard that’s bigger than our current one. The design steps down over three levels with views across the Maribyrnong River. It’s almost getting to the point where places like these that are so connected to the landscape are becoming a “money can’t buy” opportunity.

We looked at a couple of other developments as part of our research, but in terms of design and value for money – we just couldn’t beat Pace.

What are your favourite design features at Pace of Sunshine North?

I’m the manager of a cabinet making business, so the design and quality of finishes are incredibly important to me. Having worked in the industry for more than 30 years, I’ve seen hundreds of plans – that makes it easy to spot designs that flow well, and the ones that don’t.

The floorplans at Pace of Sunshine North are exceptional. Given the choice to adapt them, I wouldn’t change a thing. The design by Rothelowman flows perfectly, and the kitchens have all the features I would want to include if I were building it myself.

Our townhome will be bigger than the house we’ve got now. The design is one our family can grow in to. It’s going to mean our daughters can enjoy their teenage years with space of their own.

What are you most looking forward to about living at Pace of Sunshine North?

Coming from a house we renovated 19 years ago, it’s going to be great to move into a brand-new place!

We’re an active family so Rachel and I can’t wait to have the river on our doorstep, so we can run or cycle along it. We’re looking forward to spending time with our family and friends in the communal barbeque areas on sunny afternoons, and we’re hoping a real sense of community forms with everyone who lives there.

For a long time, locals have looked at the site and not seen its potential, but I have to say – Pace have nailed it.
