PACE Collaborates With Registered Charity Co-Ground Bringing Coffee To Collingwood… and Education To Developing Countries
After a hugely successful 2016, PACE Development Group have started 2017 off on the right foot - by giving something back.
The collaboration between Co-Ground and PACE of Collingwood started when the architects of the display suite alerted developers to some un-used space out the back. Immediately seeing an opportunity to create a bustling area for passersby to enjoy, PACE put their feelers out to see if they could find a business to inhabit the space. They knew there was a possibility for this to be a hugely beneficial project for a small hospitality business because of the prime location and fantastic visibility from the street – and with rent, electricity, water, building costs all taken care of, it was simply a matter of finding the right fit.
What PACE found though, was much more than a corporate partnership with a local business. Upon meeting with the Co-Ground team, the project evolved into a collaboration. It was no longer simply a vehicle to support a local Collingwood business, but now a much wider opportunity to help fund charitable projects around the world.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Co-Ground. Not only because they make spectacular coffee - although that’s obviously a bonus – but also because of the important work they do with communities to improve education in developing nations. We believe being socially responsible is just as important as being fiscally profitable and corporate responsibility is a key component to being in business in the modern age,” says Andrew Crichton, marketing manager at PACE.
It was with this culture of corporate responsibility in mind that PACE jumped at the opportunity to supply Co-Ground with key components necessary to set up and run a pop up café that would keep costs down and maximize profits for Co-Ground’s cause. As with all of Co-Ground’s projects, 100% of the profits go to their charitable funds. The Co-Ground pop up café will be opening at the corner of Langridge and Wellington Street on the 4th of February 2017 and will remain open over the Summer Season.
Co-Ground is a registered charity based in Melbourne whose sole purpose is to support community driven projects throughout South East Asia. Their current project is in Vanuatu’s Epi Island where the community has identified the need for a safe place to teach, and a library to tackle illiteracy. The $70,000 project is lead by Co-Ground, with key supporters including Rotary International, Rotary Club, with guidance from the Vanuatu Ministry of Education.
Co-Ground’s Andrew Mellody is the 2015 individual recipient of the Anti Poverty Awards for his tireless work with Co-Ground, helping rebuild and offering support to Sara Primary School after cyclone Pam hit in March 2015 on the remote Epi island in Vanuatu.
About PACE of Collingwood
‘New apartments with an old soul’ is how Pace Development Group describe their latest project, Pace of Collingwood, a residential development of only 79 apartments. The building is ideally located in the heart of Collingwood at 75 Wellington Street, on the corner of Wellington and Langridge Street. It benefits from an East orientation with unparalleled views from the Melbourne City skyline to the Dandenong Ranges.
A medium density structure at only 9 levels, Pace of Collingwood respects its working class heritage, as it is clad in attractive, robust brick. The building is an architectural response to the materiality, grain and typology of Collingwood and retains a certain grit and character inspired by the adjoining factories and warehouses. All residents will be able to enjoy a charming landscaped pocket park that sits atop the building. A perfect place to entertain, residents won’t have to queue to get in, instead the rooftop park will be appointed with dining and leisure facilities in which to sit back, relax and take in the spectacular skyline views.
