A welcome change of pace at Collingwood development

A GIANT chess set and barbecues on the rooftop are a winning move at a new Collingwood apartment project.

Pace of Collingwood’s communal rooftop "pocket park" will give residents a space to relax, socialise and take in the views.

Pace Development Group marketing manager Andrew Crichton nominated the nine-level development’s rooftop area and location at 75 Wellington St as top selling points.

"Arguably the best location in Collingwood, on the corners of Wellington, Cambridge and Langridge streets, it provides easy walking access to an array or restaurants, bars, supermarkets, shops and public transport," Mr Crichton said.

Mr Crichton said the rooftop area on level seven was like having a park on the doorstep.

Architect Beau Fulwood, of SJB Architects, said the rooftop also softened the building’s gritty brick exterior, inspired by the area’s working-class heritage.

Interiors are by We are Huntly, with Smeg and Fisher and Paykel appliances, kitchens with stone benchtops, and timber floorboards.

There will be 27 one-bedroom apartments and 51 two-bedrooms. There’s also one three-bedroom apartment.

Internal sizes range from 46-75sq m for one-bedroom designs and 58-92sq m for two-bedrooms floorplans, while the three-bedroom offering is 106sq m.

Each apartment comes with a carpark. Storage facilities and bike racks will also be available in the four levels of basement.

Prices range from $430,000 to $620,000 for one-bedroom apartments and $475,000 to $1.05 million for two-bedrooms. The three bedroom design is $1.1 million.

About half of the apartments were snapped up in the week following its February 4 launch.

Construction is due to start in August and finish in November 2018.
