Co-ground X Pace Development Group Pop-up CafeArticle Originally Published On The Smuge Eats - Published February 2017
A development underway in Collingwood has led to a valuable caffeine-collaboration: a pop-up cafe from Melbourne-based charity, Co-Ground.
Here, your coffee dollars will go towards more than a delicious brew, working to fund community projects in Asia Pacific, in particular natural disaster relief in Vanuatu.
The idea started to form when architects working with PACE Development Group noticed an unused space at the back of the Collingwood building site. The site was perfectly placed for a little hospitality business – a prime location with plenty of passersby, and rent, electricity, water, building costs all taken out of the equation.
When PACE met with the Co-Ground team, they knew they had found the perfect fit. A registered charity and recipient of the national Anti-Poverty Award, Co-Ground works to support community driven projects throughout South East Asia.
What was a business opportunity now had a renewed focus of social responsibility: PACE supplies the Co-Ground pop-up cafe with everything necessary to keep costs down, and 100% of the profits go to their community projects.
The Co-Ground pop up cafe will be open at the corner of Langridge and Wellington Street from the 4th of February until the end of summer, serving up great coffee with a side of community spirit.
